Keeping folklore alive in Sheffield and beyond…

People gathered in a cozy restaurant or pub, sitting around wooden tables, enjoying drinks and conversations, with some standing and connecting, and a dog sitting on the floor.

Our story

Hello there!!

Welcome to the Sheffield Folklore Society, we’re a community for the people, by the people!

The society started back in 2022, post covid and yearning for community, it was created as a place for people to get together, share stories, keep traditions going, sing songs, practice ritual and just generally have a lovely old time!

We’ve had loads of gatherings gatherings like apple pressing evenings, casual meet ups, picnics at stone circles, and a wassail in 2025 with our friends at Airy Fairy, the first Sheffield had seen in a very long time and one that even caught the BBC’s eye.

Everyone’s welcome to come along, be a part of Sheffield Folkore Society, lend a hand and share ideas

What you’ll find here…

This website is kind of like a notice board and storytelling circle. You’ll find blogs, and bits and bobs written by our members, alongside news about what we’re up to and a list of up coming meet ups.

There’s also a small shop where you can grab yourself some merch, every penny of profit goes straight back into the community, to help us run events, covering things like venue hire, artist fees, and keeping it all free or as low cost as possible.
